Women’s Basketball Set to Host Bob Jones University on Friday

BOONE, N.C. - The App State women's basketball team (1-0) continues its season-opening homestand with a 6:30 p.m. clash against Bob Jones University on Friday. It will be the first meeting between the Mountaineers and the Bruins. 
 
Fans who attend the App State vs. Georgia Southern Football game on Thursday night can show their ticket from the game at the northwest and southwest doors of the Holmes Convocation Center to get into Friday's game free. Fans using mobile tickets can show the All-In-One tab in their mobile wallet. Season and single-game tickets are available for purchase at appstatesports.com/tickets. The game will also be available to stream on ESPN+. 
 
Last Time Out
The Mountaineers opened the 2025-26 campaign with a 65-45 victory over Western Michigan in this season's first installment of the MAC-SBC Challenge on Monday. Sophomore Jayden McBride and junior Daisia Mitchell led the team, each netting a career high 16 points on the night. Senior Emily Hege also reached double-figures, netting 11 points and combining with McBride for six of App State's nine treys. App State's top rebounder was graduate student Zoë McCrary, who grabbed seven boards. Mitchell, senior Emma Smith and sophomore Feryal Defne Atli pulled down six rebounds apiece. 
 
The Mountaineers found their footing in the second half of play, scoring 46 of their 65 points in the third and fourth quarters after trailing by four at halftime. Overall, the Mountaineers shot 42.9% from the arc, 41.8% from the field, and 83.3% from the free-throw line. 
 
Rankings Report
Following Monday's game, Hege ranks second in the Sun Belt with a 3-point percentage of 75%, and Mitchell ranks third in the league with a field goal percentage of 77.8%. The pair stand among the nation's top 60 in their respective categories. Smith rounds out the conference's top five in steals and steals per game (4.0). The Mountaineers lead the Sun Belt in defensive rebounds per game (32). App State also checks in nationally at 30th in team free-throw percentage (83.3%) and 38th in team 3-point percentage (42.9%). 
 
Scouting Bob Jones
Bob Jones is 1-1 on the young season. The Bruins defeated Southeastern Baptist College, 81-49, in their season opener on Oct. 31 before dropping their home opener against Covenant College, 71-64, on Nov. 5. 
 
Through two games Keely Price is the Bruins' top scorer, averaging 16.0 points per contest and shooting 53.3% from the field. Price is also the Bruins' top rebounder, averaging 11 rebounds per game, and has tallied a team high four blocks this season (2.0 blk/g). In the assists category, Caitlyn Dickerson leads the team, dishing out an average of three assists per game. 
 
On the Horizon 
The Mountaineers remain at the Holmes Center for their next two games, hosting Davidson on Nov. 12 and Wofford on Nov. 16. The Mountaineers' Wednesday game against Davidson will be Heroes Night and Camp Out at Holmes. The Black and Gold's game against Wofford will be Sunday Funday.
