LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Eleven Mountaineer softball players were named National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) All-America Scholar Athletes for the 2024 season. It marks the third straight year where at least 10 App State student-athletes received NFCA academic honors.
To earn NFCA All-America Scholar Athlete recognition, student-athletes must earn a grade point average of 3.5 or higher.
Players from the 2024 team who received recognition as All-America Scholar Athletes were

Ava Beamesderfer,
Olivia Cook,
Peyton Darnell,
Hannah Forbes,
Kayt Houston,
Ambry Lucas,
Killian Roberts,
Summer Simpson,
Taylor Thorp and
Sejal Neas.
For Houston and Thorp, it's the fourth consecutive year that they have been honored by the NFCA while Forbes and Neas received recognition for the second straight year.
Bowling Green transfer Marti Henkel was also named a Division I All-America Scholar Athlete.
In 2024, over 8,000 collegiate softball players from NAIA to Division I earned the honor.
App State will look to continue its academic prestige in 2024-25 under newly minted head coach Whitney Jones, who was hired in May. The Mountaineers have carried a team GPA of at least 3.30 each of the last four semesters.
