RALEIGH, N.C. – The App State men's and women's track and field team opened competition at NC State's Raleigh Relays on Thursday.
Senior
Chris Wainscott secured second in the men's shot put with a toss of 17.81m (58' 5.25"), while fellow senior
Nathan Karl rounded out the top-20 with a toss of 16.05m (52' 8"). In the women's shot put, junior
Daiyanna Cooper recorded a season best toss of 12.96m (42' 6.25") to round out the top-25.
On the track, sophomore
Ethan Lipham clocked a personal best of 3:49.93 to finish third in his heat and 85th overall out of 208 competitors in the men's 1,500 meters. Lipham's time moved him to ninth in the App State all-time list.
Action resumes on Friday with field events at 9:45 a.m. and track events at 12:40 p.m.
