BOONE, N.C. - The App State women's track & field team will close out the indoor regular season with the VMI Winter Classic on Feb. 9-10. Friday's field events are slated for a 2 p.m. start with track events to follow at 3 p.m. Field events will resume at 9 a.m. on Saturday with track events set for a 10 a.m. start.
Last Time Out
App State made an appearance at Virginia Tech's Doc Hale Meet, tallying 19-top 20 finishes in Blacksburg. Sophomore
Ava Studney clinched first in the women's unseeded pole vault, recorded a personal-best clearance of 4.00m (13' 1.5"), which ties Taylor Drummond's mark for second in the App State all-time list. Studney garnered her first career Sun Belt Indoor Field Athlete of the Week accolade on Feb. 7 for her performance.
On the track, senior
Taylor Smith matched her personal best of 7.49 to place third in the women's 60-meters.
Taylor Smith remains second in the program all-time list for the event. App State also saw a third-place finish in the women's 4x400-meter relay from freshmen
Nicole Wells,
Jayla Adams,
Sierra Smith, and sophomore
Daye Talley in the women's 4x400-meters. The quartet managed to stop the clock at 3:47.91. Adams,
Sierra Smith, and Wells all finished among the top-10 individually in the women's 200 meters. Adams placed sixth (24.46, PR),
Sierra Smith placed ninth (24.54, PR), and Wells placed 10th (24.57, PR).
Graduate student
Alexia Moehling placed seventh in the women's 60-meter hurdles, stopping the clock at 8.78 for a personal best. Her time moved her to fifth in the App State all-time list. Fellow graduate student
Ashlee Osaji placed eight in the women's long jump with a leap of 5.82m (19' 1.25").
Ranked Mountaineers
Studney leads the Sun Belt in the women's pole vault event after her performance last weekend. Senior
Jasmine Donohue ranks fourth in the women's 3,000 meters and women's 5,000 meters. She also rounds out the top-five in the women's mile.
Taylor Smith checks in at fifth in the women's 60-meters after her performance at the Doc Hale Meet. The quartet of Wells, Adams,
Sierra Smith, and Talley stands fifth in the SBC in the 4x400-meter relay rankings.
In the Southeast Region, Osaji remains 12th in the women's triple jump rankings. She also ranks 24th in the women's long jump. App State's 4x400-meter relay team of Wells, Adams,
Sierra Smith, and Talley ranks 14th, while Studney stands 17th in the women's pole vault.
Taylor Smith stands 21st in the women's 60 meters.

The Mountaineers will gear up for the Sun Belt Indoor Championships in Birmingham, Ala., Feb. 19-20. The meet will be available to stream on ESPN+. Action on both days will start at 10 a.m. with the multi-events.
