NEW ORLEANS – App State Tennis sophomore
Savannah Dada-Mascoll has been named Sun Belt Conference Player of the Week after her come-from-behind victory as the Mountaineers' No. 1 singles player against Virginia Tech.
This is the second time in the Yorkshire, England native's career she has earned this honor. She last won as a freshman on March 29 of the 2023 season. She finished last season with a 15-4 singles record.
Dada-Mascoll picked up her first 2024 win in singles play as she rallied to defeat Virginia Tech's No. 1 singles player, Katie Andreini.
Dada-Mascoll fell behind by losing 6-2 in the opening set, then followed up with a 6-3 win in the second set before securing the 10-4 tiebreaker win to decide the match.
She is the first App State player this season to win player of the week honors.
Dada-Mascoll and the Mountaineers will be back in action on Sunday, Feb. 18 as they travel to Boiling-Springs, N.C., to face Gardner-Webb. App State will have two more away matches before returning home on March 1 against Duquesne.
The 2023-24 tennis season is presented by Hound Ears Club.
