BOONE, N.C. — Four App State Football alums started NFL games at their positions in Week 8, while Jalen Virgil made his debut with the Buffalo Bills.
 
The Mountaineers currently have a Sun Belt-high 12 football alums on NFL rosters.

Virgil, who signed with Buffalo after spending all of last season on injured reserve with Denver, was elevated from the practice squad to make his Bills debut in a 31-10 road victory at Seattle.
 
Virgil played 11 offense snaps at receiver and was in on 43 percent of the special teams plays.
 
SAM MARTIN | P/KO | Buffalo Bills
Martin averaged 49.0 yards on three punts, with a long kick of 58 yards and a 49-yard kick that was downed at the 9.
 
AKEEM DAVIS-GAITHER | LB | Cincinnati Bengals
Davis-Gaither made his first start of the season in a loss to Philadelphia and had two stops, including one on Saquon Barley for a 2-yard loss. He also played on 83 percent of the special teams plays.
 
RYAN NEUZIL | OL | Atlanta Falcons
Neuzil started at center for the fifth straight week, playing all 62 offensive snaps in a 31-26 win against Tampa Bay.
 
TYREK FUNDERBURK | CB | Tampa Bay Bucs
With Jamel Dean still sidelined by an injury and placed on injured reserve, Funderburk made his second straight start at cornerback. He made two tackles and broke up one pass while playing roughly half of the defensive snaps.
 
COOPER HODGES | OL | Jacksonville Jaguars
Hodges played 51 percent of the offensive snaps with time at both guard spots because both starting guards suffered injuries in a loss to Green Bay. Hodges even reported as an eligible receiver on one play near the end zone, and he blocked on special teams scoring kicks.

Jackson appeared on 88 percent of the special teams snaps and made one tackle in the Saints' loss to the Chargers.
