Chapel Hill, N.C. – App State's tennis team competed in their third tournament of the fall season at the ITA Regionals in Chapel Hill, N.C., last week.
Four players represented the Mountaineers as they competed in nine singles matches and four doubles matches in this year's tournament.
Olwyn Ryan-Bovey won her first singles match of the tournament over Rachida Berjane (SC State) 6-1 and 6-0 on day one. The junior then fell short in her second singles match, losing in three sets to Jessica Braun (CSU) after winning the first set 6-2. She then paired up with
Ellie Murphy to secure App State's second win of day one in their doubles showing against Bernier and Hill (NCCU) winning 8-7.
Maggie Pate was another stand out for App State over the weekend, as she and Naledi Manyube won their lone doubles match against Gueblaoui and Romanichen (NCCU) 8-6, securing the doubles sweep for App State on day one. Pate then won in her second singles match on Saturday over Sophia Hatton (Clemson) 6-4, 4-6, [10-6] in the round of 16 before falling in the quarter-finals the same day.
The Mountaineers had an overall record of 2-6 in singles and 2-2 in doubles in the tournament.
App State will take the court one last time this fall at the Seahawk Ocean Classic in Wilmington, N.C. on Nov. 3-5
