BOONE, N.C. — Week 17 of the NFL season included the Miami Dolphins debut for veteran offensive lineman Kendall Lamm, who started at left tackle, and the Arizona Cardinals debut for Josh Thomas.
Along with those season debuts, cornerback Tae Hayes made his debut as a New England Patriots newcomer.
Here's a recap of highlights among #AppStateNFL alums. In addition to Steve Wilks' role as the Carolina Panthers' interim head coach, 14 App State alums, a Sun Belt Conference high, are currently on NFL rosters.
Kendall Lamm, OT, Miami Dolphins
The Dolphins signed Lamm to their practice squad roughly a month ago and signed him to the active roster before last weekend's loss to the New England Patriots. An injury to Pro Bowl tackle Terron Armstead created an opening for Lamm, whose first appearance of the season was cut short by an ankle injury late in the first half.
Lamm has spent time with the Houston Texans, Cleveland Browns, Tennessee Titans, Detroit Lions and Dolphins. He is unlikely to play this weekend.
Josh Thomas, S, Arizona Cardinals
Thomas, who has spent the entire season on the Cardinals' practice squad, was signed to the active roster before Arizona's 20-19 loss to Atlanta.
He appeared briefly on defense and special teams.
Tae Hayes, CB, New England Patriots
Hayes, signed by the Patriots after Christmas and elevated to the active roster to begin the new year, made two tackles while playing 24 defensive snaps — or more than one-third of the defensive plays — as New England's third cornerback.
Colby Gossett, OG, Atlanta Falcons
Ryan Neuzil, OG, Atlanta Falcons
Gossett and Neuzil both blocked on special teams and were on the field for Atlanta's game-winning field goal as time expired.
Jalen Virgil, WR, Denver Broncos
Virgil saw limited action on offense in Denver's loss to Kansas City.
Akeem Davis-Gaither, LB, Cincinnati Bengals
Sam Martin, P/H, Buffalo Bills
Davis-Gaither and Martin were involved in the Cincinnati-Buffalo game that was suspended due to Damar Hamlin's medical emergency.
Darrynton Evans, RB, Chicago Bears
Demetrius Taylor, DL, Detroit Lions
Evans was inactive for the Bears' loss to the Lions, whose practice squad continues to include Taylor.
Shaun Jolly, CB, Los Angeles Rams
Jolly was inactive for the Rams-Chargers game.
Shemar-Jean Charles, CB, Green Bay Packers
Jean-Charles was inactive for the Packers' win against Minnesota.
