Former FBI Executive Swecker to Serve as Legends Gala Keynote Speaker

BOONE, N.C. — Former App State student-athlete and FBI Assistant Director Chris Swecker, a 1978 App State alum, will serve as the keynote speaker for the 2022 Legends Gala.
 
This year's Legends Gala will be held Friday, June 17, in the Grandview Ballroom at Kidd Brewer Stadium's north end zone facility.
 
Established in 2017, the Legends Gala is a premier celebration of App State Athletics that recognizes the remarkable achievements of Mountaineers connected to App State and the High Country. The night will include remarks from a distinguished guest speaker, a silent auction, dinner, live music and dancing. 
 
A table sponsorship, which includes six seats and a "legend" to host your table, is $5,000 (includes a $4,000 tax-deductible gift). 
 
Seats for the event are $600 per person ($475 tax-deductible gift) and $1,200 per couple ($950 tax-deductible gift).

About Keynote Speaker Chris Swecker
After earning three letters as a quarterback for the Mountaineers from 1975-77 and graduating in 1978, Swecker went on to earn a law degree from Wake Forest before embarking on a distinguished career as both an attorney and law enforcement agent. A 24-year career as an FBI special agent culminated in a stint as the bureau's assistant director from 2003-06 where he oversaw all of the FBI's criminal investigations, cyber investigations and international operations among his executive duties. Some of his career accomplishments include serving as the FBI's On-Scene Commander in Iraq in 2003 for which he received the Presidential Rank award, leading the investigation that captured the Atlanta Olympic bomber, and receiving the Department of Defense Distinguished Civilian Service Award in 2020.
 
In addition to his current role as a general practice attorney, he serves as an expert trial witness and consultant in the areas of security, financial crimes, cyber crimes and corporate espionage. He is a regular guest commentator on national news networks, television programs and documentaries.
