Tamardi Ties for 8th at Sun Belt Championship

EL DORADO, Ark. — Timothius Tirto Tamardi posted a top-10 finish for the second straight year, tying for eighth place, as App State Men's Golf wrapped up play Tuesday at the 2022 Sun Belt Championship tournament.

On a difficult final day of stroke play at Mystic Creek, with the top four teams advancing to Wednesday's match play, Jake Lane led the Mountaineers with a 3-over 75 that included three birdies and 11 pars. Tamardi finished 54 holes at 7 over via a 75-71-77—223 total with App State tying for ninth place in the team standings at 49 over (305-297-311—913).

A year after tying for fifth place, Tamardi was in the top 10 throughout the 2022 event, tying for the individual lead midway through his second round and moving into second place Tuesday thanks to an early birdie. He had one birdie and 14 pars over his first 17 holes.

Lane shot 8 over (77-75—152) in his two competitive rounds, and Ryan Marter tied for 29th after shooting 76 and 72 in his first two rounds. Justin Morgan played the first 14 holes of his final round at 2 over and finished with a third straight 77 to tie for 34th place. Like Lane, Lukas Jönsson and Sverrir Haraldsson played in two of the three rounds.

The average score in the field Tuesday was 77.33.

Texas State's Evan White led the way individually by finishing three rounds at even par, three shots ahead of second place. Georgia Southern (25 over), Little Rock (25 over), UTA (36 over) and Georgia State (40 over) advanced to match play, as the Mountaineers began Tuesday just two shots out of fourth place.
