POSTGAME NOTES: Marshall 28, App State 21
App State's four Sun Belt losses have come by losing margins of 4 (James Madison), 12 (Texas State), 7 (Coastal Carolina) and 7 (Marshall).
App State's all-time record against Marshall is now 15-10. The teams have won on their home fields in each of the last three meetings.
The Mountaineers have lost five regular-season games for the first time since 2014, the program's first year in the Sun Belt Conference.
This is the first time App State has lost back-to-back regular-season games since 2017 (at UMass, at ULM).
Since the Mountaineers' 2014 FBS debut, App State has the sixth-most wins (85) in the FBS in that span behind just Alabama (112), Clemson (108), Ohio State (103), Georgia (96) and Oklahoma (91).
App State's road record since transitioning to the FBS ranks in 2014 fell to 32-19. The 32 wins are tied for fourth-most among FBS teams over that span.

Daetrich Harrington punched in a fourth-down touchdown one play after taking a screen pass 26 yards on third-and-goal from the 27-yard line.
Henry Pearson collected a fourth-quarter touchdown catch of 14 yards that pulled the Mountaineers back to within a score at 28-21.
Nate Noel led the rushing attack with 72 yards on 18 carries. It was his highest yardage total in a league game this year.
Christan Horn led the receiving corps with four catches for 66 yards.
Chase Brice completed a pass to nine different receivers, the ninth time in 10 games this year that the Mountaineers have had at least nine different pass catchers.
Defense
Logan Doublin led all players a career-high 13 tackles and snagged an interception for the first time in his career after Jalen McLeod tipped the Marshall pass.
Among his career-high nine tackles, Steven Jones Jr. recorded his first career sack, a big one for a 16-yard loss after Marshall gained good field position following a fumbled App State kick return.
Andrew Parker also logged a career high in tackles with nine.
Special Teams
Milan Tucker returned a kickoff 96 yards for a touchdown – his first career score of any kind – that cut the Mountaineers' deficit to 21-14 right after Marshall had scored on a punt block. It's the fifth straight season that App State has returned at least one kickoff for a touchdown.
Tucker also came up big by downing a pair of punts inside the Marshall 5-yard line.
Tyler Bird recovered a punt that hit the Marshall punt returner to give App State good field position for its first touchdown of the game in the second quarter.
