Women's Tennis Brings in Two Newcomers for 2021-22

BOONE, N.C. - App State women's tennis head coach Ashleigh Antal has announced two future Mountaineers for the 2021-22 season in Olwyn Ryan-Bovey and Erika Dodridge. 

Ryan-Bovey is a native of Ireland, while Dodridge is arriving after spending one season at Big Ten program, Iowa.

Dodridge spent two seasons with the Hawkeyes, where she went 1-1 in 2020 during the spring before the season was canceled due to COVID-19. In the fall of 2019, Dodridge won the Draw D championship at the Gopher Invitational and competed in three tournaments. She posted a singles mark of 7-4 while earning three doubles victories. In high school, she was a four-time International Tennis Federation champion on top of capturing a doubles title at the Nike Junior International, Justine Henin Juniors Cup, Belfast City, and the WOW Air Open Tournament. She reached the top 200 of the 16U Europe Junior Circuit in 2016. Born on Nov. 22, 2001, Erika is the daughter of Anthony and Zuleika Dodridge. She has one brother who played tennis at Wisconsin and was ranked as high as second in the 2017 ITA doubles rankings.

Olwyn Ryan-Bovey | 5'5 | St. Angelo | Ireland
Ryan-Bovey enjoyed a successful high school career, where she was a national indoor champion and a national match-play champion on multiple occasions. The native of Ireland represented her country at the European Championships, the Winter Cup, and the Four Nations Tournament. According to Universal Tennis Rating (UTR), she is 9-7 dating back to the summer of 2020. Born on April 21, 2003, she is the daughter Ailen Ryan-Bovey and Devan Bovey. She has three siblings.
