BOONE, N.C. — App State built a 7-1 lead through five innings and took a three-run lead to the ninth, but ULM used a six-run frame to pull out a 10-7 win and even the Sun Belt Conference series.
The series finale is scheduled for Sunday at 11 a.m.
Luke Drumheller's two-run double highlighted a three-run first inning, and he added a solo homer in the third.
Bailey Welch hit a two-run homer in a three-run fourth inning.
Through five innings,
Quinton Martinez allowed just an unearned run. He officially gave up three runs (two earned) and struck out four batters in 6.1 innings.
Jason Cornatzer struck out three batters in 1.2 innings, and
Noah Hall took the first loss of his career.
A two-run double with nobody out tied the game in the ninth, and a one-out bunt between the plate and mound allowed the tiebreaking run to score from third.
