Biography

Career: Played in 164 games and started 151 as a four-year starter in left field … Finished career with 19 homers, 82 RBIs, 84 runs, 27 doubles, seven triples, 16 stolen bases and 12 outfield assists.
 
2021: Played in all 52 games and made 48 starts (all in left field) while serving as the primary cleanup hitter … Hit a team-leading six homers while batting .260 with 26 RBIs, seven doubles, three tiples, 50 total hits and 28 runs scored … Hit .275 in league play … Fared well against tough competition, going 5-for-9 with five RBIs in back-to-back road games against Wake Forest and NC State … Homered against East Carolina, Wake Forest, Georgia State, ULM, ETSU and North Carolina A&T … Had 13 multi-hit games, including four games with three hits, and two games with four RBIs (Wake Forest, Georgia State).

2019: App State’s starting left fielder and cleanup hitter, McGowan batted .305 (third on the team) with eight home runs (second), 35 RBIs (second), 57 hits (second), 31 runs (second), four triples (first), nine doubles (tied for second), 11 steals (tied for first) and 16 multi-hit games (second) … Played in 49 games and made 48 starts … Had a late-season stretch with seven HRs in 11 games, including an inside-the-park homer in which he circled the bases in 16.23 seconds … Batted .323 in league play with team-high totals of 32 hits, six HRs (tied for first), 21 RBIs, seven doubles and seven stolen bases (ninth in the league). 2018: Played in 47 games and made 42 starts despite a leg injury, as he started 29 times in left field, one time in right field and 12 times as the designated hitter … Had four home runs, 13 RBIs, eight doubles, 19 runs, 36 hits and a .229 average … Batted most frequently in the No. 3 hole as a freshman … In App State’s first win of the season, gave the Mountaineers a 2-0 lead in the fourth inning with a two-run homer against UNCG … Hit a two-run homer in the top of the first inning during a 5-1 win at Radford on April 3 … Capped the scoring in a 5-0 win at UTA on May 5 with a three-run homer in the fourth inning … Delivered the go-ahead single in the 10th inning of a 4-3 win at Georgia State on May 12 ... Had nine multi-hit games, including three-hit efforts at UNCW on Feb. 24 and at Wake Forest on March 20 … Had a team-leading average of .271 on the road with three home runs, six doubles and 11 RBIs in those games … Opened the season with a .302 average through his first 17 games … Made two starts in the outfield on the final day of the season to end a string of 10 straight appearances as a DH ... Won the league’s regular-season batting title with a .392 average and finished the regular season among the league leaders in on-base percentage (first at .480), doubles (first with 20), stolen bases (third with 22), slugging percentage (third at .642), hits (third with 58) and RBIs (fifth with 36).
