CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - Women's Tennis suffered a 7-0 decision to No. 1 North Carolina on Tuesday evening at the Cone-Kenfield Tennis Center.
The Mountaineers fall to 1-3 on the season after wrapping a four-match stretch in which they faced three nationally-ranked opponents from the ACC. The Tar Heels move to 9-0 on the season.
UNC went into singles play with a 1-0 edge after winning Courts 1 and 3. Ksenia Aleshina/Sandra Anglesjö trailed by only one point, 4-3, as the second doubles lineup against Fiona Crawley/Anika Yarlagadda, but the contest went unfinished.Â
The hosts wouldn't let up in singles action, as it won the six matches in straight sets. Teodora Sevo aimed to force a tiebreaker in the first set but fell 7-5 before falling in the second frame to Makenna Jones, who was 49th in the nation in singles.Â
App State travels to Spartanburg, S.C. on Saturday to face Wofford at 2 p.m.
