LYNCHBURG, Va. -- App State women's track & field will head back to Liberty for the Darius Dixon Invitational on Friday and Saturday, in its final tune up before the Sun Belt Championships. Friday's field events begin at 3 p.m., with running starting at 4 p.m. On Saturday, field competition begins at 11 a.m. with running events starting at noon.

App State competed at the Brant Tolsma Invitational at Liberty last weekend.
- The Mountaineers saw a pair of runners enter the top-10 in program history in the 1,000-meter run. Bianca Copeman placed second in the event with a time of 3:09.41, while Faith Younts finished right behind in third-place in 3:09.58. Copeman's time ranks sixth in program history and Younts' mark sits eighth.
- Taylor Smith had a strong day, capturing the long jump with a mark of 18-9.25 (5.72m). Smith also competed in the 60-meter dash, qualifying fourth with a time of 7.73 seconds. In the finals, she crossed in 7.75 seconds to finish sixth. Also in the long jump, Maya Hanks placed second with a leap covering 18-4.25 (5.59m) and Nevaeh Haddock finished in a tie for sixth with a mark of 17-3.25 (5.26m).
- The Mountaineers also had a solid showing the triple jump, seeing three athletes finish in the top-six. Djamila Petersen recorded a second-place finish with a leap of 39-9.25 (12.12m), Hassani Burris was fourth with a mark of 38-0.00 (11.58m) and Haddock finished sixth with a mark of 37-3.00 (11.35m).
- The Black and Gold placed three in the top-eight of the 1-mile run. Izzy Evely crossed third in a PR time of 5:09.17, Kylee Frady placed seventh in 5:16.14 and Jasmine Donohue was right behind in eighth-place in 5:17.10.
- The 200-meter dash saw App State place three sprinters in the top-11. Jessica Dixon led the Mountaineers across the finish line in 25.28 seconds. Samara Gibson crossed ninth with a time of 25.58 seconds and LaBria King placed 11th in 25.76 seconds.
- Ani Judd teamed with Frady, Gibson and Dixon for a ninth-place in the 4x400-meter relay in 4:08.96.
