This was App State's first win against a nationally ranked FBS team since the 2007 upset of No. 5 Michigan, making it:
- The second win over a top-25 FBS opponent in school history
- The first win over a ranked team at Kidd Brewer Stadium
- The first win over a ranked team since moving up to FBS in 2014
App State responded to a loss by winning its next game for the eighth straight time. The Mountaineers haven't dropped back-to-back games since 2017 and haven't dropped back-to-back Sun Belt games since their first two league games in 2014.

This was the Mountaineers' first home win as the clock expired since a 44-41 triple-overtime triumph against Troy in 2015.

The Wednesday night sellout crowd of 31,061 was the fourth-largest attendance in Kidd Brewer Stadium history.

In its last 28 games, Coastal Carolina has played in front of a crowd with at least 20,000 fans on two occasions, and both were losses in Boone to App State.

App State improved its all-time record against Coastal Carolina to 7-1 overall and 6-0 in Boone.

Thomas Hennigan broke the FBS record for career starts with his 58th (among his 59 total games). The previous record of 57 was held by Clemson OL Mitch Wyatt (2015-18) and Alabama OL Ross Pierschbacher (2015-18).

With their 68th win since the start of the 2015 season, the Mountaineers have the sixth-most in the country during that span behind only Alabama (85), Clemson (83), Oklahoma (74), Ohio State (73) and Georgia (69).

App State's 575 yards of total offense were a season high. Coastal Carolina entered the game allowing just 280.7 yards per game and 15.0 points per outing.

Malik Williams' career-high 206 receiving yards (on a career-high 10 catches, with one touchdown) were the most by an App State player since Sean Price had 231 against Georgia Southern in 2012. It was the eighth 200-yard receiving performance ever by a Mountaineer, and Williams had already surpassed his previous career high of 123 by midway through the second quarter.

Corey Sutton chipped in six catches for 113 yards and a touchdown, marking his fourth 100-yard game in the last five outings.

This was the third time this season that App State has had a pair of receivers with 100+ receiving yards apiece.

Quarterback
Chase Brice's 347 passing yards were his most in his college career and the most by a Mountaineer since Taylor Lamb threw for 427 yards against Coastal Carolina in 2017. Brice's 381 total yards were also the most since Lamb's 452 in that 2017 game.

After missing the previous two games,
Camerun Peoples returned to rush for 58 yards on seven carries with two touchdowns. His league-leading touchdown total is now up to 10 this season.

Thomas Hennigan's lone catch of the day moved him into a tie for the school record with 208 career catches, matching Andrew Peacock's total from 2010-13.

App State's defense held Coastal Carolina to season lows in points (27), rushing yards (55) and total yards (346).

D'Marco Jackson, had another double-digit tackle game with a team-high 11.

Chandler Staton made his 11th field goal in as many tries this season and his second game winner (also kicked the game winner vs. Marshall).

Staton's time-expiring field goal moved him into a tie atop the school record book with 55 career field goals, matching Bjorn Nittmo's total from 1985-88.

Milan Tucker, for the Mountaineers' first successful onside kick since 2019 vs. Charlotte (that resulted in a 45-yard touchdown by Darrynton Evans).
