App State fell to 0-1, and The Pack improved to 3-1 on the season.
The Mountaineers faced one of the top teams in the country in head coach Ashleigh Antal's first match at the helm. NC State is the first of three-ranked ACC opponents App will face in the first four matches of the season.
In doubles action, App State faced two doubles tandems that are ranked in the top 16.
