Women's Tennis Releases 2021 Schedule

BOONE, N.C. - App State women's tennis head coach Ashleigh Antal is excited to announce the 2021 spring schedule.

Highlighting the schedule is six home matches, contests against three ranked ACC foes, and 10 Sun Belt matches.

The Mountaineers are coming off a 6-4 2020 mark in a season that was shortened due to COVID-19. Over the last two years, the Apps are 21-10 with a regular-season Sun Belt title.

"We have several exciting and experienced returners with us for this upcoming season, as well as an incoming transfer who will undoubtedly make an immediate impact for us," coach Antal said. Our senior class in particular has helped lead this Mountaineer program to new heights, so I'm excited to get to work with them and to continue building during this unique season. We're going to place a focused effort on doubles early and look to find our matchups that will anchor our team later into the season. This is going to be a fun team to watch grow over this upcoming year. We, of course, would also like to highlight and extend our gratitude for all the hard work from our App State family in ensuring our safe return to play!

App State opens the season on Jan. 31 against No. 8 NC State in Raleigh, N.C. The Mountaineers face Western Carolina in their home opener on Feb. 13. Back-to-back contests against ACC opponents in No. 6 Duke and the top-ranked team in the country in North Carolina follows on Feb. 14 and 16, respectively.

Wofford on Feb. 20 and Elon on March 3 wraps up a four-match road swing. Opening up Sun Belt play is Georgia State on Mar. 6 at home followed by Georgia Southern the next day on March 7.

Appalachian hits the road the following weekend to Alabama to face Troy (March 13) and South Alabama (March 14). The Apps take a break from Sun Belt play to face Radford (March 18) before traveling to Conway to face Coastal Carolina on Mar. 21.

The Mountaineers continue their play on the road against Georgia State (Mar. 27) and Georgia Southern (Mar. 28) in the Peach State. App State will end the month of March against UNCG, wrapping up seven straight matches away from home.

App State opens up April with three straight home matches against Troy (April 3), South Alabama (April 4) and the finale against Coastal Carolina on April 7. Ending the regular season is two non-conference matches against Charlotte on April 9 and Davidson on April 11.

The Sun Belt Tournament takes place April 15 in Peachtree City, Ga.
