LYNCHBURG, Va. -- App State women's track & field will return to action on Friday and Saturday at the Liberty Elite Invitational. Friday's field events begin at 4 p.m., with running events set to begin at 6 p.m. for the women. All events begin at 11 a.m. on Saturday.

App State, Charlotte, Coastal Carolina, Delaware State, East Carolina, Georgia Southern, High Point, James Madison, Liberty, Norfolk State and Towson.
LAST TIME OUT
- App State opened the 2020-21 indoor season on Dec. 4 and Dec. 5 at the Appalachian Split Open.
- In the triple jump, Peighton Simmons covered 41-8.50 (12.71m) to finish first. Her mark was just 2.25 inches shy of her PR. Djamila Petersen placed third in the event with a leap of 39-00.50 (11.90m).
- Taylor Smith captured the long jump with a mark of 19-1.25 (5.82m), with Nevaeh Haddock placing second with a mark of 17-11.00 (5.46m). Smith also placed second in the 55-meter dash in 7.19 seconds.
- Celia Agee and Casey Meinert both cleared 11-6.25 (3.51m) in the pole vault, with Agee finishing first and Meinert placing second.
- LaBria King won the 55-meter dash in 7.17 seconds and Megan Plummer captured first place in the shot put with a toss of 37-8.00 (11.48m).
- Jelonnie Smith nearly bested her PR in the 300-meter dash, crossing second in 40.55 seconds, which was just .16 seconds shy of her personal best. Also, in the event, Samara Gibson finished third overall in a PR time of 41.13 seconds, which ranks as the ninth fastest time in the event in program history.

App State will take next weekend off before competing at the ETSU Track & Field Invitational in Johnson City, Tenn. on Feb. 5 and Feb. 6.
