Mosley Signs Ksenia Aleshina to 2020 Recruiting Class

BOONE, N.C. - App State women's tennis head coach Blake Mosley is excited to announce the signing of Ksenia Aleshina for next fall.

A native of Moscow, Russia, Aleshina is the first signee for 2020-21. She joins Sandra Anglesjö (Sweden), Selina Atay (Turkey), Sasha Pisareva (Ukraine), Virginia Poggi (Italy), Teodora Sevo (Serbia), and María José Zacarias (Mexico).

"Ksenia trains at one of the best academies in Russia, and has played at the highest level of junior tennis with some experience on the pro tour," coach Mosley said. "She will add even more depth to our already talented roster."

For two straight years, she competed in Les Petits As (Little Champions), one of the premier junior tennis tournaments held in Tarbes, France. Aleshina reached the quarterfinals in singles and the semifinals in doubles. Highlighting her run in 2017 was a victory over Cori "Coco" Gauff, who went on to defeat Venus Williams in the 2019 Wimbledon Championships and is the youngest player to appear in the top 100 WTA rankings.

Aleshina has put forth a solid tennis career thus far, achieving a career-high ranking of 366 in the junior ITF (International Tennis Federation) rankings. Also, she finished second and third at the European Championships while posting a third-place finish at the World Championships for the Russian National Team.

According to UTR, Aleshina is rated as a 10 in doubles with 12 victories in tournaments since last June and a nine in singles with 11 wins in the same period.
