TEMPE, Ariz. - The Intercollegiate Tennis Association announced its 2020 Division I Carolina Region awards on Monday with App State women's tennis garnering the Community Service Award.

App State earns the honor after finishing with 131 hours of community service over the academic year. The Mountaineers worked local organizations such as the Humane Society of Watauga and Samaritan's Purse with 100 percent participation.

The Mountaineers join Liberty, Arkansas, Michigan State, Boise State, Hofstra, Washington State, Tennessee, North Georgia, UAB and TCU as the other schools who won the community service award in their respective regions.

"Giving back to the community is an integral part of the student-athlete experience and our team culture here at App State," head coach Blake Mosley said.

Also, the team finished 10th in the 2020 NCAA Team Works Helper Helper Community Service Competition among women's tennis programs.
