BOONE, N.C. — App State's
Jonathan Reeder has been appointed to the NCAA Wrestling Rules Committee, with his term beginning now and continuing through the end of August 2023.
Reeder is the Executive Associate Athletics Director/CFO for App State Athletics, and he's also App State's sport administrator for wrestling.
The primary task of the NCAA Wrestling Rules Committee is to review and vote on proposed rules changes for all levels of NCAA competition. Committee members have the responsibility of shaping the future of the sport through their decisions.
The nine-member committee has four members from Division I, two from Division II, two from Division III and an additional member who is a rules editor. Of the current members, there are five head coaches, and Reeder is one of three administrators along with Penn Assistant Athletic Director Matt Valenti and North Dakota State Senior Associate Director of Athletics Jack Maughan.
Members of the rules committee are responsible for the following:
— Sustain and advance the association's mission, traditions, values and reputation.
— Regularly participate in committee meetings and conference calls, prepared and well informed.
— Disclose promptly and fully any potential or actual conflicts of interest, and personally maintain exemplary ethical standards.
— Commit to serve the association as a whole rather than any part of it or any personal or political cause.
— Support the consensus of the committee after fully exercising the responsibility to debate and disagree.
— Maintain confidentiality as required and appropriate.
— Serve as an advocate for the association while only speaking publicly on behalf of the committee as authorized to do so consistent with the NCAA Speaking Agent Policy.
