Women's Tennis Lands Highest ITA Ranking in Program History

Mountaineers Climb 29 Spots

TEMPE, Ariz. - App State women's tennis jumped 29 spots to 49th in the latest edition of the Oracle Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Division I Women's Team Rankings, the organization announced on Tuesday.

The No. 49 ranking is the highest in program history with the previous high being 65th in 2013. App State is one of five schools with North Carolina, NC State, Duke and Wake Forest from North Carolina to be ranked in the Top-50.

"This is a huge accomplishment for our program," head coach Blake Mosley said. "It's a true testament to the hard work we've been putting in. Now is the time to buckle down and keep improving."

It's to no surprise the Apps jumped this high after defeating then-No. 48 East Carolina, who was 30 spots higher than the Black and Gold.

App State is on a five-match win streak after downing College of Charleston on Sunday in a 4-3 victory, extending its streak to 12 straight home wins dating back to last season.

Since last season, the Apps are 20-8 over their last 28 matches and 31-19 over their last 50 contests since coach Mosley's second season at the helm.

App State will have another tough test this weekend, as it travels to Johnson City for a pair of matches. App will face Charlotte on Saturday before squaring off against ETSU on Sunday.
