BOONE, N.C. - After back-to-back 4-3 losses on Friday and Saturday, App State men's tennis put together a solid effort in a 4-1 victory over Winthrop on Sunday afternoon at the Deer Valley Racquet Club.
App State snaps a seven-game skid and earns its first home victory, improving to 2-7 on the season. The Eagles drop to 1-8.
The Mountaineers recorded their much-needed win on Sunday, registering the doubles point for the second consecutive contest, while three student-athletes notched singles victories.

Matvey Radionov got the match started when they posted a 6-3 win over Abhi Vannemreddy/Connor Williamson as the No. 2 tandem in the lineup to move to 2-0 as partners.

Zion Heaven in a 6-3 victory against Lluis Miralles/Miha Velicki in a matchup between the top duos on Court No. 1. The pairing helped App win the doubles point in back-to-back matches for the first time this season.
Bargeron continued his solid day as he dealt Williamson a 6-4, 6-1 setback to get things started in singles and push App to a 2-0 lead.
Radionov extended his win streak to four straight wins in singles after downing Miralles, 7-5, 7-5, on Court No. 3 and improving to team-best 5-4 on the season.
Winthrop would pick up a win on Court No. 1 in straight sets before
Blake Carter, who played in his first spring match since the first weekend, stepped up with the clinching 6-3, 6-3, win over Enzo Silveira.
App State will start a string of six straight matches away from Boone next weekend when it travels to Greensboro for a 2 p.m. match on Friday against UNCG.
