BOONE, N.C. -- App State women's track & field will open the 2020-21 season by hosting the Appalachian Split Open on Friday and Saturday in the Holmes Center and Varsity Gym. All field events, except for the long jump and triple jump, will take place in Varsity Gym. All running events, along with the long jump and triple jump, will take place in the Holmes Center. Friday's events begin at 5 p.m., while Saturday's field events begin at 10 a.m., with running events beginning at 11 a.m.

No spectators will be permitted at the meet.

SCOUTING THE MOUNTAINEERS
	- App State returns 42 athletes from last season's roster, including 12 that scored points at last season's Sun Belt Championships.
- Jessica Dixon returns after winning the 400-meter dash last season at the Sun Belt Championships in a school record time of 55.25 seconds. She also placed second in the 200-meter dash.
- Peighton Simmons returns after recording Third Team All-Sun Belt honors in the long jump at the conference meet. Earlier in the season, Simmons recorded the fourth longest triple jump in program history, covering 41-10.75.
- Simmons teamed with Jelonnie Smith, Taylor Smith and Dixon to break the school record in the 4x300-meter relay last season. In addition, Simmons, Dixon and Jelonnie Smith were all part of the 4x400-meter relay team that earned Third Team All-Sun Belt honors.
- In distance events, Lisha Van Onselen and Izzy Evely scored points in the 3,000-meter run, while Lila Peter scored points for the Mountaineers in the 5,000-meter run at the conference meet.
