Women's Track & Field Set for ETSU Track & Field Invitational

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. -- App State women's track & field will return to action on Friday and Saturday at the ETSU Track & Field Invitational. Events begin Friday morning at 8:45 a.m. with the weight throw and on Saturday at 8:35 a.m. with the 3,000-meter run.

LAST TIME OUT
App State won the seven-team Appalachian Invitational on Dec. 6 and 7 with 113.5 points. The Black and Gold won five events on the day and broke a school record:

• 300-Meter Dash: 1. Jessica Dixon, 39.77
• 4x300-Meter Relay: 1. Jelonnie Smith, Peighton Simmons, Taylor Smith, Jessica DIxon, 2:41.58 (school record)
• Long Jump: 1. Taylor Smith, 19-1.25 (5.82)
• Triple Jump: 1. Peighton Simmons, 41-10.75
• High Jump: 1. Kayla Carson, 5-2.00

NATIONAL RANKINGS
App State owns eight marks in the top-50 heading into this weekend's competition:

• 55-Meter Dash: 9. Taylor Smith, 7.18; 11. Samara Gibson, 7.21; 20. Jessica DIxon, 7.30; 29. Jelonnie Smith, 7.33; 39. LaBria King, 7.39
• 300-Meter Dash: 35. Jessica Dixon, 39.77
• Long Jump: 33. Taylor Smith, 19-1.25 (5.82m)
• Triple Jump: Peighton Simmons, 41-10.75 (12.77m)

NATIONAL RATINGS INDEX
Peighton Simmons is ranked 35th in the nation in the preseason national ratings index in the triple jump. Her mark of 41-10.75 (12.77m) set at the Appalachian Invitational in December earned the ranking. The marks also sits in fourth place in program history.
