Women's Tennis Faces Campbell in Home Opener

BOONE, N.C. - App State women's tennis seeks its first win of the season when it hosts Campbell at 2 p.m. at Deer Valley Racquet Club

Last Time Out
The Mountaineers faced their second ACC team in a row, falling to Virginia Tech by a score of 6-1. Sasha Pisareva won her second singles match in a row at the top spot, defeating Natalie Novotna of Virginia Tech in three sets 6-2, 4-6, 6-2. 

Played So Nice, She Won it Twice
After her second consecutive win over an ACC foe, Pisareva was named the Sun Belt Women's Tennis Athlete of the Week. She's the first women's player for App to win the weekly conference award twice in a row. 

Home Cookin' 
App State has posted a solid home mark, going 12-2 in the last two seasons, highlighted by an 8-1 mark in 2019. The Mountaineers are on an eight-match win streak at home after falling to Davidson in the season opener. 

Scouting Campbell
Campbell has won its first two matches with a 7-0 triumph over Tennessee State and most recently a 5-2 victory against Belmont on Monday. Three players in Ana Castillo, Lea Cutura, and Lucile Pons are 2-0 in singles, while the team is 10-2. CU is 4-1 in doubles with the tandems of Castillo/Cutura and Ciara O'Toole/Inma Ramon boasting 2-0 records.

App State will host UNCG at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 11.
