NEW ORLEANS - For a second week in a row, App State women's tennis junior
Sasha Pisareva was named the Sun Belt Women's Tennis Player of the Week, the league announced on Wednesday.
Pisareva is the first App player since the Mountaineers have been in a conference to garner the weekly award in back-to-back weeks.
The No. 1 in singles for the Black and Gold defeated her second straight opponent from a Power Five program. After downing then-No. 18 Anna Rogers in straight sets, Pisareva defeated Natalie Novotna of Virginia Tech in three sets 6-2, 4-6, 6-2, bouncing back from a second-set defeat before pulling out the final frame.
Pisareva is 2-0 singles in the top spot. She and the Apps will look for their first win on Saturday at 2 p.m. against Campbell in the home opener.
