WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. -- A group of App State men's and women's track & field athletes competed at the JDL January Kick-Off on Sunday.
The meet was unscored.
App State claimed the top-two spots in the weight throw on the men's side.
Zachary Weinstein finished first with a toss of 56-5.25 (17.20m) and
Peter Kenn covered 52-11.50 (16.14m).
The women's pole vault saw the Mountaineers have two finish in the top four.
Celia Agee placed second with a mark of 11-1.75 (3.40m) and
Silvanna Curtain recorded a fourth place, clearing 10-8.00 (3.25m).
Taylor Smith posted a fourth place finish in the 200-meter dash in 26.10 seconds and
Jenna Lineberry was sixth the women's 800-meter run in 2:29.77.
In the men's 3,000-meter run,
Oliver Wilson-Cook placed fourth in 8:49.68 and
Michael Flanagan crossed sixth with a time of 8:52.72.
The women's one-mile run saw App State place three in the top-10.
Reilly Caldwell finished fourth in 5:34.65,
Elizabeth Fuller crossed sixth in 5:35.77 and
Maya Sweeney placed eighth with a time of 5:38.50.
In the women's weight throw,
Madison McCoy finished seventh with a mark of 47-2.50 (14.39) and
Casey Turro crossed eighth overall in a PR time of 10:46.70 in the women's 3,000-meter run.
Zachary Mercer placed fifth in the men's one-mile run in 4:33.56 and
Michael Albert recorded an eighth place finish in the men's shot put with a mark of 44-10.25 (13.67m).
App State will compete again on Jan. 25 at the VMI Team Challenge.
