CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. - App State men's tennis suffered a 6-1 defeat to Chattanooga on Sunday afternoon.
Appalachian drops to 1-2 on the season while UTC improves to 1-1.
Highlighting the day for App was
Campbell Stone, who claimed the lone point for the Black and Gold in singles.
With the match already clinched, Stone ended the day on a high note for the Mountaineers with his first singles victory of the season, concluding the weekend with a singles and doubles triumph. Stone defeated Luke Plaisted as the No. 6 in the lineup. He came back from a one-set deficit before storming back to take the last two sets, including the tiebreaker. 1-0 (10-5).
UTC won the doubles point to take a 1-0 lead into singles. Appalachian was unable to get it going in singles with the Mocs claiming five of
the matches.
Appalachian will have an extended break before facing Virginia Tech on Feb. 8 in Blacksburg.
