BOONE, N.C. – Appalachian State University has hired
Austin Bartolomei-Hill as its new Director of Sports Productions, Associate Athletics Director for Strategic Communications
Joey Jones announced Friday.
Bartolomei-Hill will oversee the sports productions staff and be responsible for the planning and execution of live broadcasts, in-game video board experiences and creative digital content to tell the story of Appalachian's student-athletes, coaches and teams.
"We're excited to welcome Austin to the App State family," Jones said. "He will play an important role in our efforts to communicate the great stories of the Mountaineers, as well as enhance the App State brand via an array of multimedia platforms."
Bartolomei-Hill arrives in the High Country after serving as the executive producer for the TV series "Under the Shell," which gave a behind-the-scenes look at the University of Maryland's women's basketball team. Before his latest stop, he worked from 2017-18 as a video technician for the Kunlun Red Star, a professional women's ice hockey team in China. He also worked with China's national women's ice hockey team while abroad.
Bartolomei-Hill has also held similar production positions at Loyola Marymount University, the University of Massachusetts and the United Women's Lacrosse League.
"I'm so thankful for the opportunity to work at Appalachian State," Bartolomei-Hill said. "This is a special place, and this athletics department has set a standard of excellence that I aim to maintain and build upon. Video is such a visible part of any athletics department, and I look forward to working with our student-athletes, coaches and staff to provide the best coverage possible for our fans."
The 2012 Maryland graduate began his video career as a student, fulfilling video requests and editing film to support other units within the athletics department. He earned his bachelor's degree from Maryland in social and cultural history.
