BOONE, N.C. - Appalachian State University women's tennis (2-1) toppled ETSU (4-3) in an exciting 4-3 match on Wednesday afternoon at the Deer Valley Racquet Club.
App captured the doubles point with a pair of wins, and are now 4-0 over the last two matches during the doubles portion. The Mountaineers claimed the three singles matches for the triumph, including a pair of momentum-changing three-set victories.

Blake Mosley said following the match. "Everyone came out and battled from start to finish in a really exciting match."
Capping off what was a solid day on the court,
Heidi Swope stepped up with the clinching singles point following a 6-1, 6-4 victory over Yi Chi Ma to stay undefeated in singles play at 3-0. She and doubles partner, María José Zacarias, won their first match of the season together after defeating Laylo Bakhodirova/Alejandra Morales, 6-4.
Turning the momentum was the three-set wins that turned a 1-1 tie into a commanding 3-1 lead for the Black and Gold.
Teodora Sevo downed Bakhodirova in a battle of No. 1's, 6-3, 2-6, 6-4, followed by
Kate Earnhardt coming back from a one-set deficit over Alejandra Morales. Earnhardt suffered a 7-5 first-frame defeat before coming back to win the next two sets, 6-4, 6-4.
Appalachian got off to a strong start in doubles thanks to
Rebecca Morse and
Jeannez Daniel. The duo registered their first victory as a tandem this season, posting a 6-0 win over A. Pascual-Larrinaga and Yunuen Elizarraras.
Morse fell in her singles match in three sets to Elizarraras, 4-6, 6-3, 1-0 (10-6), while Daniel suffered a 6-3, 6-2 setback to Amaro. Zacarias was edged by Pascual-Larrinaga, 6-0, 6-4.
App State will look for its third straight win on Saturday at 1 p.m. against UNCG in Greensboro.
