BOONE, N.C. - Appalachian State men's tennis head coach Craig Schwartz has announced the 2020 spring schedule.
The Mountaineers will play 24 contests with nine home dates, the Sun Belt schedule, and matchups against the likes of Virginia Tech, Charlotte, James Madison, and Xavier.
App State will begin the schedule with four away matches, three of which are in Tennessee. App will kick things off with a 10 a.m. affair on 1/18 against Tennessee State before facing Lipscomb at 6 p.m. in Nashville. Ending the weekend is a Sunday matinee at 3 p.m. against Chattanooga.
In the first matchup of February, App State will travel to Blacksburg, Va. for a showdown against Virginia Tech. The Black and Gold hosts Tennessee Tech on Feb. 9 in their home opener.
A week later on Feb. 16, App will face the defending SoCon champions, ETSU at 11 a.m. in Johnson City. ETSU went 16-8, undefeated in league play and earned a berth in the NCAA Tournament.
App State will face three opponents in as many days against Presbyterian (2/21) on the road before the final two dates taking place at home against UNCA (2/22) and Winthrop (2/23).
A string of six straight contests outside of Boone will ensue, beginning with UNCG (Feb. 28), followed by Campbell (Feb. 29) and Charlotte (March 6).
The next three matches will take place at neutral-sites. App will play North Florida on Charlotte's campus (March 7) and then will travel to Orlando, Fla. to face James Madison and Xavier on March 12.
Troy (March 20) and South Alabama (March 22) open up league action for App, hosting both squads that weekend.
Appalachian will travel to UTA for a 1 p.m. March 27 affair before facing Louisiana at 10 a.m. two days later.
The following weekend, Appalachian returns to the High Country to face Gardner-Webb on April 2 to start a three-match homestand. The Apps returns to league action the next day against Georgia State at 1 p.m. and on the fifth against Georgia Southern.
Davidson will be the final non-conference opponent of the season on April 10, while Coastal Carolina at home is the regular-season finale on April 11.
The Sun Belt Championships will take place from April 16-19 in Peachtree City, Ga.
