Appalachian had its hands full with the SEC Preseason favorites and a South Carolina team that brought in the top recruiting class in 2019.

The Gamecocks hit 17 of their first 25 shots into the first 12 minutes of the game to take a commanding lead and never looked back.

Despite the setback, Appalachian improved in the second half by scoring 41 of its points in the third and fourth quarters while outscoring USC, 41-39.

App State will look for its first win on Friday at 6:30 p.m against Gardner-Webb in the home opener at the Holmes Center.
