BOONE, N.C. — Four Appalachian State alums were connected to a Monday Night Football matchup, a Week 5 highlight on the NFL schedule.
Defensive end Ronald Blair and the San Francisco 49ers faced the Cleveland Browns, who have two App State alums on their roster (offensive tackle Kendall Lamm, offensive guard Colby Gossett) and one on their coaching staff (defensive coordinator Steve Wilks).
With Blair making one tackle, the 49ers won 31-3 and improved to 4-0. They are one of two unbeaten teams in the entire NFL along with the New England Patriots.
Lamm remained inactive because of an injury, and Gossett is a member of the Browns' practice squad.

The Dolphins were off over the weekend and host Washington on Sunday.

The Lions were off over the weekend and return to action Monday at Green Bay.

The XFL announced groups of players to enter the draft pool, and the list includes five App State alums: linebacker Kennan Gilchrist, receiver
Dominique Heath, cornerback
Clifton Duck, receiver Malachi Jones and cornerback Joel Ross. The draft will be held Oct. 15-16.
