BOONE, N.C. - Coming off its best weekend of the early fall, App State women's tennis looks to progress at the Hokie Fall Invite hosted by Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, Va.
App State will join the likes of Virginia Tech, VCU, Radford and Marshall for the three-day event, which will be in a hidden dual format.
The Mountaineers are coming off a 22-win weekend, finishing 10-2 in doubles and 12-5 in singles action. All six student-athletes contributed to the successful weekend with at least two singles wins and doubles victories. In doubles, App finished with an impressive 10-2 record over the three days while boasting a 12-5 mark in singles play.
Cassie McLay and
María José Zacarias went a perfect 4-0 in doubles over the weekend, continuing their undefeated streak in the fall to 7-0.
In last season's Hokie Fall Invite, App State collected 20 victories with wins over such schools as VT, Penn State, Iowa State and West Virginia.
Kate Earnhardt posted a pair of wins against the Hokies and Mountaineers, while
Sandra Anglesjö tallied a victory against the Cyclones.
Appalachian will have 17 days off before the annual ITA Regionals hosted by Wake Forest in Winston-Salem, N.C. from Oct. 24-28.
