KERNERSVILLE, N.C. -- With just one meet remaining before the Sun Belt Championships, Appalachian State men's cross country will run at the VertCross Invitational, hosted by High Point. The 8k race will begin at 4:45 p.m.

SCOUTING THE MOUNTAINEERS
The Black and Gold have now won their last two meets of the season and stand at 31-1 overall. The Mountaineers won the 17-team USC Upstate Invitational on Sept. 29 by over 70 points, totaling 18 with Wingate finishing second with 91 points. For the third time this season, App State had a different top-five.
Gable Dershem crossed the finish line first for Appalachian in second place with a PR time of 25:48.4.
Ian Foley was right behind in third in 25:50.8.
Collin Loy was fifth in 26:02.1,
Dakota Mendenhall was sixth in 26:02.3 and
Ben Cignarale placed seventh in 26:11.5.Â
Michael Flanagan claimed 10th place in 26:24.3, whileÂ
Ryan Brown andÂ
Zachary Mercer finished 12th and 14th in 26:30.5 and 26:41.6, respectively.
NEXT UP
The Mountaineers will look to defend their Sun Belt title on Oct. 27 at the Sun Belt Championships in Mobile, Ala. After being picked to finish fourth in the league last season, the Black and Gold put together their best race of the season and won the program's first Sun Belt title.
