BOONE, N.C. - Appalachian State athletics has announced that Molly Cotten will join the Appalachian State IMG Sports Network for the 2017 football season as the sideline reporter.
Cotten displays the experience working behind the scenes and in action, while adequately covering teams in the collegiate and professional level.
"We are excited to have Molly join our broadcast team.," said athletics director Doug Gillin. "Her passion for Appalachian and success in the radio industry made Molly an excellent choice as our sideline reporter."
Graduating from App State in 2015, Cotten is no stranger to App State athletics as she was the play-by-play announcer for women's basketball and volleyball for the Black and Gold while serving as the studio host for ASN for two years. Also, she was the first female play-by-play announcer to appear on commercial radio for a men's basketball contest at Cincinnati.
For the past two years, Cotten has worked with ESPN Charlotte as the host of Inside the Lines and Reporter. She covered the Charlotte Hornets and the Carolina Panthers' run to the Super Bowl where she covered the team in Santa Clara. Most recently; she made the transition to the new morning show, The Wake Up Call.
"I'm excited to be back at Appalachian State," Cotton mentioned. "App State is where it all started for me, and to work alongside an exceptional and professional radio crew is a great opportunity."
Cotten joins the crew of play-by-play announcer
Adam Witten,
Pierre Banks (analyst) and
Steve Zushin. Witten and Banks are entering their second year with ASN while Zushin is on year five as the Network's on-site engineer.
Cotten and the rest of the crew will debut this Saturday when App State takes on No. 15 Georgia at 6:15 p.m. on ESPN.
