Box Score CONWAY, S.C. – Appalachian State volleyball fell to Coastal Carolina in four matches on Friday, Oct. 13 (17-25, 25-22, 20-25, 21-25).
Courtney Sullivan led the Mountaineers with 14 kills on the day.
Ashlyn Brown had 44 assists, and
Olivia Loeffler had 29 digs to contribute for App State.
App State started off the first set with a 3-0 run thanks to a kill each from
Kara Spicer and
Lexi Kohut. The Mountaineers stayed on top of the Chanticleers until Coastal Carolina tied it up at 8-8 to take over the lead for a victory.
Determined to keep App State in the game,
Courtney Sullivan helped tremendously in the second set with three kills in a row to put the Mountaineers up 17-14. The team held on to push past the Chanticleers to win the second. Coastal Carolina gave App State trouble in the third and fourth sets, however, to win the match.
Appalachian State is now 7-14 overall and 2-5 in the Sun Belt Conference.
Coastal Carolina will follow Appalachian State back to Boone, N.C. for a rematch on Sunday, Oct. 15 at 12:30 p.m. at the Holmes Convocation Center.
