BOONE, N.C. — The App State volleyball team fell to Georgia Southern in four sets (25-21, 20-25, 25-27, 14-25) on Saturday, splitting the two-game series 1-1.
Charlotte Thompson led the match with 13 kills for the Mountaineers (12-8, 5-1 SBC), while Raegan Richardson dished out 41 assists and MeMe Davis recorded 17 digs.
Georgia Southern (13-5, 5-1 SBC) took control over the final three sets, fueled by a defensive effort that produced 14 blocks. App State rallied to tie the third set at 23-23 before Georgia Southern pulled away to close out the set.
App State had opened the contest strong, taking the first set 25-21 before the Eagles responded.
The Mountaineers travel to Harrisonburg, Va. next to face James Madison on Thursday and Friday. Both matches will stream live, with live stats available at appstatesports.com.
