KANNAPOLIS, N.C. — Appalachian State University men's golf completed the final round of the Irish Creek Intercollegiate on Sunday at The Club at Irish Creek. The Mountaineers shot their tournament-low round of 295 for a total of 898. Appalachian finished in 13th place.

Wake Forest won the Irish Creek Intercollegiate with a team total of 855 followed by Kennesaw State at 859 and UNC at 860.

Patrick Moriarty shot the lowest round of the tournament for any Mountaineers in round three. Moriarty's 70 gave him a total of 217 which put him in a tie for 16th place. Caleb Keck shot 75 in the final round placing him in a tie for 54th place with a total of 227.

Jake Smith carded an 82 on Sunday, giving him a total of 231. Smith tied for 68th place. Alex Burris finished one stroke behind Smith with a total of 232. Burris shot 77 on day two and tied for 72nd place.

Kyle Austin shot a 73 in his final round. Austin finished tied for 78th place with a total of 234.

Kennesaw State led the tournament at 567 followed by Wake Forest at 568 and VCU at 573 after day one. App State was tied for 14th place. 

Moriarty led the Apps with a low round of 72 in round two after shooting 76 in round one. Moriarty was tied for 25th going into Sunday's final round. 

Two strokes behind Moriarty, Smith carded a 149 over two rounds with a 72 in round one and 77 in round two. Smith was tied for 41st place. Keck was tied for 59th place with rounds of 78 and 74. 

Burris shaved one stroke off his first round score of 78 with his second round 77 to finish in a tie for 69th place after day one. Austin shot a 161 over the first two rounds with a low round of 79 on the second 18 holes. Austin was tied for 83rd place.

The Mountaineers are back in action tomorrow for the Wofford Intercollegiate in Spartanburg, S.C. The tournament will start with a shotgun start at 9:30 a.m.
