BOONE, N.C. – Appalachian State University men's track and field will open the outdoor part of its schedule beginning on Friday, March 18 when it travels to Winston-Salem, N.C. for the Wake Forest Open. The meet will span both Friday and Saturday, March 19.
Last season, Appalachian State had 10 student-athletes who posted top-five finishes at the Wake Forest Open. Those finishes were led by Stanley Broaden who took first-place in the 400 meter hurdles with a time of 52.73. At the time, that mark was good for seventh in program history.
The Mountaineers are recently coming off of a fifth-place finish at the Sun Belt indoor championships. Appalachian's lone champion was Ryan Hastings who claimed the 800m run. Overall, 15 Mountaineers scored points over 12 total events.
