Men's Soccer Returns Home to Face Longwood

BOONE, N.C. — Appalachian State University men's soccer, winners of three-straight games, will return home to take on Longwood Tuesday at Ted Mackorell Soccer Complex. Game time is set for 6:00 p.m.

App State has won three games in five days last week starting on Wednesday when it defeated ETSU, 2-1, at home.

The Apps then traveled to Nashville, Tenn. for the Belmont Invitational for two matches against Belmont and Lipscomb. The Mountaineers took Belmont into overtime on Friday night. Trey Hemphill's 93rd minute golden goal sealed Appalachian's victory.

On Sunday, The Apps recorded their second-straight shutout against Lipscomb. The Mountaineers battled into double overtime until Austin Stamey drew a foul in the penalty box. Alex Herbst slotted the penalty kick into the net for the game-winner.

Scouting Longwood:

The Lancers come into the match with a 2-1 overall record. Longwood was last in action against Navy on Friday, winning 2-1. The Lancers also have a 4-1 win over VMI this season. 

Willy Miezan leads the Lancers with five goals and 11 points. Service for Longwood has come from a variety of players with five Lancers each having one assist.

Appalachian won the last meeting between the two schools, 3-2 and is winning the all-time series 3-2 against the lancers.
