Softball Travels for Road Series at South Alabama

BOONE, N.C. – Appalachian State University softball will travel to South Alabama to take on the Jaguars in its third Sun Belt Conference series of the season.

Saturday's doubleheader, originally scheduled to begin at 2 p.m. ET, has been moved up for a Noon ET start due to forecasted rain. Sunday's single game is still slated for a 1 p.m. ET first pitch.

LAST TIME OUT
• Appalachian State earned its sixth victory all-time against the Charlotte 49ers. Prior to
Wednesday's win, the Apps were 5-20 overall against the 49ers.

• After hitting her third home run of the season and driving in four runs, Heather Josey now leads the squad in RBI with 14. Pepper Butler hit her second of the season in the contest.

Cara Parker clubbed her third homer of the season and 13th of her career. The dinger places the sophomore sixth all-time in Mountaineer history.

• True freshman Katie Williford earned her first career victory after pitching 4.2 innings and allowing just three runs (all earned).


• Redshirt junior Katherine Johnson recorded her first career save after pitching one scoreless inning in the seventh.

SCOUTING THE JAGUARS
• South Alabama enters the weekend series with an 18-6 overall record, including a 2-3 mark within the Sun Belt. The Jags are currently receiving 32 votes in the USA Today/NFCA Division I Top 25 Poll after falling out last week.

• Stephanie Pilkington currently leads the Jags with a .400 batting average, while contributing 4 doubles, a triple, a home run and 16 RBI.

• Kaitlyn Griffith leads the power department for the Jaguars with four homers to go along with 21 RBI. Chloe Rathburn leads the team with 25 RBI and is second with a .392 average.

• Devin Brown has seen the bulk of the innings thus far in the circle with 76 innings pitched. Brown is 8-4 with a 2.49 ERA and three complete games. She has also fanned a whopping 135 batters.
