Softball Hosts Charlotte in Mid-Week Contest

BOONE, N.C. – Appalachian State University softball will look to snap a six-game losing streak when it hosts the Charlotte 49ers for a mid-week contest on Wednesday, March 18. The game proves to be the first home contest for the Mountaineers this season. First pitch is slated for 5 p.m.

LAST WEEKEND

• The Mountaineers dropped three games over the weekend on the road at Sun Belt Conference foe Troy.

• Sophomore Cara Parker hit her second home run of the season and 12th of her career over the weekend. Parker's 12 home runs are currently good for seventh all-time in program history.

Cynthia Gomez finished 3-for-4 in Game One against Troy. The three hits tied a single-game career-high for the senior second baseman.

• Senior pitcher Alissa Schoelkopf is 55 strikeouts away from tying the all-time program record for strikeouts in a career and 56 away from becoming the all-time leader. Schoelkopf currently has 294 K's and trails Kayla Richardson's (2006-09) 349 career punchouts.

SCOUTING THE 49ERS

• Charlotte enters Wednesday's single game against the Mountaineers with a 12-10 overall record, including 1-2 so far in Conference USA action.

• Chelsea Lisikatos leads the Niners in home runs with five so far this season. Lisikatos is hitting .270 with 13 RBI and one double.

• Courtney Carroll leads the Niners in hitting with a .273 average. Carroll also has two doubles, a triple and a home run.

• Lexi Betancourt has received the bulk of the workload in the circle thus far. Betancourt has pitched 94.2 innings and has 94 strikeouts to go along with a 7-8 record and 2.96 ERA. Of her 13 starts, she has complete 12 games.
