BOONE, N.C. - Appalachian State University men's tennis will look to end the fall on a strong note this weekend in Rock Hill, S.C. with the Winthrop Invitational.

Appalachian is one of eight teams that will compete in the event. Furman, Gardner-Webb, Longwood, Bluefield, UNC-Asheville, Davidson and host Winthrop will also take part in the Invite.

In last season's Winthrop Invite, Casey, Maddocks and Chris Mahan earned top-three finishes in their flights with Casey and Maddocks posting 3-1 marks in Flights A and B, respectively. Mahan finished 2-1 in Flight C. Maddocks/Steve Lake and the duo of Eric Green/Robert Jenkins earned a victory in doubles competition.

The Apps are coming off an idle week after turning in eight victories at the ITA Regionals in Cary, N.C. Oliver Casey and Scott Webster led the way with two victories in singles play as both advanced to the round of 16 in consolation draws. Both Jack Maddocks and Scott Webster picked up a singles triumph.

Appalachian drew two wins in doubles competition with Webster/Bost and Casey/Maddocks racking up a victory.

Headin into the final weekend, Webster and Casey have five singles wins to lead the way.
