BOONE, N.C. — Appalachian State University men's soccer's match versus USC Upstate has been canceled.

The match was canceled due to the tragic deaths of four USC Upstate student-Athletes, two of whom were members of the men's soccer team. 

The match will not be rescheduled.

"Obviously, in situations like this NCAA athletics takes a distant backseat," said head coach Matt Nelson. "We are in 100% in support of USC Upstate's decision, their coaches, their players, and their families. Our prayers remain with them and their loved ones in this time of need."

The Mountaineers next match is in Raleigh, N.C. against NC State on Mon. Oct. 19. Game time is set for 7:00 p.m.
