POSTGAME NOTES

 

Team

• Appalachian State closed the regular season with a 7-5 record in its first-ever NCAA Division I FBS campaign.

• Appalachian State closed the regular season with a 6-2 record in Sun Belt Conference play, good for a third-place finish in its first season in the league.

• Appalachian State won its sixth-straight game after a 1-5 start.

• Appalachian State moved to 22-1 in its last 23 home games played in the month of November.

• Appalachian State moved to 2-0 all-time against opponents from the Pacific time zone. Its only other game against a team from the Pacific time zone was a 38-35 victory over Eastern Washington in the quarterfinals of the 2007 NCAA Division I FCS playoffs.

• Appalachian State evened its record at 1-1 all-time against opponents from the state of Idaho. Its only other game against a team from Idaho was a 17-14 loss at Boise State in the quarterfinals of the 1994 NCAA Division I-AA playoffs.

• Idaho closed the season at 1-10 (1-7 Sun Belt).

• Idaho lost for the sixth-straight time when playing in the Eastern time zone. Its last win in the Eastern time zone was a 33-13 victory at Western Michigan on Oct. 2, 2010.

Individual

• Appalachian State redshirt freshman quarterback Taylor Lamb finished the season with 2,381 passing yards to set a new school record for passing yards by a freshman. The previous record for passing yards by an Appalachian State freshman was 2,251, set by Armanti Edwards in 2006. Lamb broke the record on a 32-yard touchdown pass to Tacoi Sumler in second quarter. He finished the day with 223 yards and a career-high-tying three touchdowns on 13-of-20 passing.

• Appalachian State sophomore running back Marcus Cox rushed for 122 yards and two touchdowns on 25 carries. The 100-yard game was his sixth in the last seven games, eighth of the season and 14th in 24-career games. He finished the season with 1,415 yards on the season and 2,665 for his career, which is on pace to shatter Appalachian State's career record of 4,804, held by Kevin Richardson (2004-07).

• Appalachian State sophomore place kicker Bentlee Critcher made a career-long 49-yard field goal on the final play of the first quarter. His previous long was a 39-yard game-winner vs. UL Monroe on Nov. 8.

• Appalachian State limited Idaho wide receiver and Biletnikoff Award candidate Joshua McCain, who came into game with 73 receptions for 1,123 yards and 11 touchdowns, to just three receptions for 39 yards and no scores.
