NOTING SATURDAY'S MATCHUP
• Appalachian State (5-5, 4-2 Sun Belt) has won four-consecutive games while UL Lafayette (7-3, 6-0 Sun Belt) has won six in a row. No other Sun Belt team currently boasts a winning streak longer than two games.
• Appalachian is coming off the most impressive victory of its four-game winning streak, a 37-32 triumph at three-time-defending Sun Belt champion Arkansas State last Saturday.
• The Mountaineers overcame an early 20-6 deficit at Arkansas State by scoring 31-straight points to take a commanding 37-20 lead late in the fourth quarter. App State sealed the win by withstanding a furious rally by A-State, which scored 12 points in the final 2:17 of the game.
• With the win, Appalachian pulled into a tie with Arkansas State for third place in the conference standings, behind only Georgia Southern (8-3, 7-0 Sun Belt) and UL Lafayette (7-3, 6-0 Sun Belt).
• The Mountaineers' four-game winning streak is their longest since they won four games in a row from Sept. 22-Oct. 13, 2012.
• A win on Saturday would give App State its longest winning streak since it won the first eight games of the 2010 campaign.
• After limiting Arkansas State to just 314 yards last Saturday, Appalachian has moved to the top of the Sun Belt in total defense at 354.6 yards allowed per game. App State also ranks second in the league in rushing defense (157.2 ypg) and third in passing defense (197.4 ypg).
• Offensively, the Mountaineers rank second in the Sun Belt in scoring (34.8 ppg), rushing (246.2 ypg), passing efficiency (136.1 effic. rating) and total offense (468.1 ypg).
• If any team in the Sun Belt is hotter than Appalachian State, it's UL Lafayette, which has won six-straight games following a 1-3 start.
• The Ragin' Cajuns' six-game winning streak has come exclusively in Sun Belt play.
• The Cajuns are 4-1 at home this season, with their only blemish coming in a 48-20 loss to Louisiana Tech on Sept. 6.
• UL Lafayette owns three-straight bowl victories, which is the longest postseason winning streak in Sun Belt history.
• Appalachian State is playing a team that won bowl games following each of the previous three seasons for the fourth time in school history. The Mountaineers also faced teams coming off three-consecutive bowl wins in 1991 (Clemson), 2002 (Marshall) and 2008 (LSU).
• Appalachian State is in search of its first-ever win in the state of Louisiana. The Mountaineers are 0-6 in their previous six trips to the Bayou State (0-3 at Northwestern State, 0-2 at LSU and 0-1 at Southeastern Louisiana).
